Amazon Greenlights 'Fourth Wing' Series Based on Rebecca Yarros' Bestselling Romantasy Books

Prime Video is moving forward with a full series order for 'Fourth Wing,' the highly anticipated adaptation of Rebecca Yarros' bestselling romantasy novels.

The project has been in development for over two years since Amazon secured the rights in 2023. Michael B. Jordan is attached as an executive producer through his Outlier Society production company, which maintains an overall deal with the studio.

Meredith Averill, known for her work as co-creator on 'Locke & Key,' took on the showrunner role in September 2025. She replaced Moira Walley-Beckett, who previously oversaw the project and has credits including 'Breaking Bad' and 'Anne With an E.'

The series follows Violet Sorrengail, whose expectations for a peaceful future take a dramatic turn when her mother—a commanding general—compels her to enroll at Basgiath War College. There, she becomes one of hundreds of candidates competing to earn the coveted position of dragon rider.

The book series currently includes two published titles: 'Iron Flame' and 'Onyx Storm,' with Yarros planning to expand the franchise to five books total.

In other Amazon news, the studio has renewed its comedy series 'Jury Duty' for a third season.
