Fox Delays Baywatch Reboot to January 2027, Eyes Post-Championship Premiere Slot

Fans eager to dive into Fox's Baywatch reboot will need to wait until next year. While production continues in the Los Angeles area, the series won't premiere until January 2027.

The network's decision to hold the show reflects its confidence in the project. Michael, President of Fox Broadcast, outlined the reasoning behind the midseason strategy: "There's only one Baywatch. It's one of the most iconic, popular television franchises in TV history."

He continued, "We have a rich history of launching series midseason. We just did it most recently with Best Medicine and Memory of a Killer and Doc before that. It goes all the way back to 24 and Empire and the 9-1-1s and The Resident. Obviously, Baywatch is a huge, huge priority for us, and we think we have a great opportunity to set the show up for success in midseason."

Reports suggest Fox may position the premiere as a post-game broadcast following the NFC Conference Championship on January 31, which draws tens of millions of viewers and would give the debut episode significant exposure.

Cast and Crew

Stephen Amell takes on the role of Captain Hobie Buchannon, joined by Shay Mitchell, Hassie Harrison, Jessica Belkin, Noah Beck, Brooks Nader, and Livvy Dunne in the ensemble cast.

Other Midseason Holds

Baywatch isn't alone in Fox's delayed rollout. The network is holding numerous series for midseason debuts, including Bob's Burgers, Family Guy, The Interrogator, Krapopolis, Memory of a Killer, Murder in a Small Town, Beat Shazam, Crime Scene Kitchen, Don't Forget the Lyrics!, Extracted, Fear Factor: House of Fear, Gordon Ramsay's Secret Service, Kitchen Nightmares, LEGO Masters, Marriage Market, The Masked Singer, Next Level Baker, and Next Level Chef.
