Giants QB Jaxson Dart Takes Stage at Trump Rally, Drawing Teammate's Criticism

The 23-year-old starting quarterback for the New York Giants made an appearance at a political rally this week, introducing the former president and drawing immediate pushback from his own locker room.
On Friday, May 22, Jaxson Dart took the stage at an event in Suffern, New York held for Republican Rep. Mike Lawler. Addressing the crowd, Dart said: "Big Blue nation, it's a pleasure to be here. What an honor, what a privilege it is to be here and, without further ado, I'm grateful, I'm honored, I'm pleasured to introduce the 45th and 47th president of the United States of America, President Donald J. Trump."
Trump responded warmly to the introduction, telling the crowd: "I want to thank Jaxson Dart. This is going to be a future Hall of Famer in my book. Thank you, thank you Jaxson. Lot of talent." The former president also called Dart a "beautiful guy" and noted his physical attributes, saying he had "legs like tree trunks."
The quarterback's decision to participate in the rally did not sit well with everyone in the Giants organization. Defensive standout Abdul Carter, Dart's teammate, posted a reaction on X following the event. "Thought this sh!t was AI, what we doing man," Carter wrote, expressing his apparent disapproval of the move.
Political involvement remains a sensitive topic in professional football, with most players typically avoiding public stances on such matters to prevent creating distractions within their teams. The situation echoes past controversies involving other high-profile athletes. Tom Brady, for instance, faced years of speculation and questions regarding his political affiliations and potential ties to Trump, with the former president claiming Brady supported him while Brady's then-wife Gisele Bundchen disputed that characterization.
