Hallmark+ Greenlights Second Season of 'Hope Valley: 1874' Ahead of Season One Finale

As the first season of 'Hope Valley: 1874' heads toward its finale this week, Hallmark+ has announced the prequel to the beloved 'When Calls the Heart' franchise will continue with a second season.

The renewal comes on the heels of the series becoming Hallmark+'s most successful launch ever, setting new viewership records for the streaming service.

Season two episodes are slated to arrive in 2027.

Michelle Vicary, Head of Programming at Hallmark Media, praised the show's performance in a statement: "Hope Valley: 1874's dream cast led by Bethany Joy Lenz, Benjamin Ayres and Jill Hennessy, has brought to life the rich characters and beautiful story crafted by showrunner Alfonso Moreno. Our fans and press alike have enthusiastically embraced the series, making it especially rewarding to continue telling this story."

The series follows Rebecca Clarke (Lenz), who leaves Chicago and heads to the Western Canadian frontier alongside her 11-year-old daughter. When her wagon breaks down, she finds herself relying on Tom Moore (Ayres), a local rancher and lifelong bachelor. Despite Rebecca's resolve to keep her life uncomplicated, the connections she forms in the growing settlement—particularly with the guarded Tom and spirited pioneer Hattie Quinn (Hennessy)—inspire her to establish roots and begin anew.

The three leads shared the renewal announcement via an Instagram video celebrating the greenlight.
