Harry Shum Jr. Left in Limbo Over Grey's Anatomy Season 23 Return

Harry Shum Jr. is waiting to find out if his character will survive the fallout from a major storyline in Grey's Anatomy's season 22 finale.
Dr. Kwan, nicknamed "Blue," faced termination after circumventing hospital protocol to administer an experimental hydrogel to a liver cancer patient. The FDA had not approved the treatment, setting off the chain of events that led to his firing.
The first-year surgical resident's fate at the hospital remains unresolved, leaving questions about whether Shum Jr. will continue with the series heading into season 23.
When speaking with E! News, Shum Jr. reflected on the character's actions. "I think it's good to see the doctors when they do make a mistake, but also with good intentions. It wasn't just because he was a bumbling mess. It was very motivated in making sure that someone got to be able to choose life over death," he explained.
As for what comes next, the actor finds himself in the same position as viewers. "I'm just as much in the dark as audiences," Shum Jr. shared. "But to me, it's a hope of: Do audiences want to see him go or do they want to see him go back to the hospital?"
The season 22 finale saw the departure of two other beloved cast members, with their exits written into the show's conclusion.
