HBO Max Gives First Glimpse of 'Stuart Fails to Save the Universe' Spinoff, Announces July Premiere
The Big Bang Theory franchise is getting a third spinoff series this summer. HBO Max unveiled inaugural photos and timing details for Stuart Fails to Save the Universe during CCXP 2026 in Mexico City on Sunday afternoon, April 26.
The comedy follows Stuart Bloom, who manages a comic book shop and finds himself in an unexpected predicament after damaging a contraption created by Sheldon and Leonard. His mishap triggers a multiverse catastrophe, and Stuart must work to fix reality. He teams up with his girlfriend Denise, his pal Bert who studies geology, and Barry Kripke, a quantum physicist known for being difficult. During their mission, the group encounters alternate-universe iterations of familiar faces from the original series—though Stuart's efforts prove less than successful, as the title suggests.
The cast features Kevin Sussman reprising his role as Stuart, with Lauren Lapkus returning as Denise, Brian Posehn as Bert, and John Ross Bowie as Barry Kripke. Additional cast members include two more Big Bang Theory alumni taking on different characters.
Grammy Award-winning composer Danny Elfman is composing an original theme for the series.
Stuart Fails to Save the Universe arrives on HBO Max in July.
