Hilary Duff has opened up about the creative inspiration behind her decision to re-record some of her earliest material.

The 38-year-old artist sat down on Kylie Kelce's podcast Not Gonna Lie, where she discussed her approach to revisiting songs like "Come Clean" from her younger years. When asked about the re-recording project, Duff pointed directly to Taylor Swift's influential work in this space.

"The whole Taylor of it all really set the bar for being like, 'No, here's how we're going to do this. Here's how this is going to go,'" Duff explained, referencing Swift's re-recorded albums.

Duff revealed she titled her new versions "Mine," marking a clear statement of ownership over the material. She went on to explain the personal motivation behind the project, noting that she recorded those original songs at just 14 years old with minimal experience or technical skill. "I had no technique…the Internet loves to remind me of this," she said with a laugh.

The artist emphasized how much she's evolved as a performer and wanted her voice and interpretation to reflect that growth. "I am such a different person now. If I'm going to sing these songs, I want it to feel and sound like me," she shared.

Duff also discussed the technical challenges of recreating her earlier work with producer Brian. The production landscape has shifted dramatically since those original recordings, particularly in how percussion and other elements were used. "The times were so different that the interesting use of percussion…it was just very not what it is today," she noted.

"Come Clean (Mine)" has already been made available to fans. The track appears on special editions of her album luck… or something, including the wine o'clock edition vinyl available through HilaryDuff.com and a Walmart exclusive version. The re-recorded song was also featured on Hilary Duff – (Mine), a Record Store Day exclusive silver vinyl released last month.

Looking ahead, Duff is preparing for her first arena world tour in two decades, The Lucky Me Tour, which kicks off later this year.
