Lauren Sánchez Bezos Stuns in Schiaparelli at Met Gala 2026

The wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos stepped onto the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday, May 4, for the 2026 Met Gala, dressed in a custom creation by Schiaparelli. The 56-year-old entrepreneur, former broadcast journalist, licensed pilot, and founder of Black Ops Aviation served as one of the evening's honorary co-chairs.

Sánchez Bezos walked the carpet alongside fellow co-chairs Anna Wintour and Nicole Kidman, among others. The gala also counted Beyoncé and Venus Williams among its co-chair lineup.

Speaking to Today about her role in organizing the event, Sánchez Bezos reflected on the honor. "When Anna called me and said, 'Do you want to co-chair and also be the sponsors of the Met?' I was so honored. And then she told me the theme — fashion is art. These designers are true artists. [Elsa] Schiaparelli was best friends with Salvador Dalí, and his medium was a canvas, and hers was clothing."

This year's theme, "Fashion is Art," ties into the Met's Costume Art exhibition, which examines "the 'centrality of the dressed body' through depictions and interpretations of the human form in the Met's extensive collection." The annual gala draws hundreds of A-list celebrities and stands as fashion's most prestigious night on the calendar.

Wintour, the 76-year-old former Editor-in-Chief of Vogue, attended the press preview earlier that day alongside Sánchez Bezos before the main event commenced.
