Authorities in Arizona have clarified that a human bone discovered near the residence of Nancy Guthrie is not connected to her ongoing disappearance case.

The bone surfaced on Thursday, May 7, roughly seven miles from Nancy's home, according to the Tucson Police Department. Following examination, investigators determined the remains represent a "prehistoric anthropological" finding rather than evidence in any criminal matter. The University of Arizona Department of Anthropology and the Pima County Office of the Medical Examiner both participated in the analysis.

Nancy Guthrie, mother of Today show anchor Savannah Guthrie, vanished on January 31. Police continue their investigation into her disappearance under the assumption of a suspected kidnapping.

The search efforts remain active, with substantial financial incentives offered for her safe return. The FBI has posted a $100,000 reward for information leading to her recovery, while the Guthrie family has added an additional $1 million reward. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI or the Pima County Sheriff's Office at 520-351-4900.

Meanwhile, Savannah has resumed her role at the Today show, having returned to the newsdesk for the past month.
