Jake Shane is weighing in on the viral exchange that had social media buzzing about his interaction with Kacey Musgraves.

The Grammy-winning country artist, 37, recently sat down on Jake's podcast Therapuss earlier this month, where the two delved into Kacey's 2018 track "Slow Burn." During their conversation, Jake zeroed in on a particular lyric that had been sparking debate between him and a colleague.

"My favorite line from that song, obviously, is 'Sun's going down, but in Beijing, they're headed out to work.' What do you mean by that? Me and Manny, who I work with, debate it every single day," Jake posed to Kacey.

Kacey explained that the line wasn't meant to be mysterious or layered with hidden meaning. "It's not a 'deep-coded thing' and 'literally just means what it means,'" she said, before walking through the concept of how time zones function across the globe.

The singer shared the inspiration behind those words: "I was sitting on my porch in Tennessee, and picturing these people around the world, doing their thing over there. You know, it's like the world just keeps turning."

The exchange quickly caught fire online, with many poking fun at the interaction and what they perceived as a misunderstanding about how time zones work.

By Saturday, May 16, Jake took to Instagram Stories and TikTok to address the moment head-on. He shared screenshots of news coverage surrounding the viral clip, alongside a meme featuring a comparison to Patrick from SpongeBob SquarePants.

"Like I'm ready to laugh. we can laugh," Jake said in his response. "Like this was a real thing I saw on Google."
