Jason Derulo is crediting one major business deal with generating his strongest returns.

The 36-year-old performer, known primarily for his five studio albums throughout his career, has diversified his income streams through multiple entrepreneurial pursuits and social media presence. Speaking at the 2026 American Music Awards this week, he singled out one investment as standing out above the rest.

"My best investment was Rocket Carwash," Derulo told E! News. "That is something that I can hang my hat on that went very well."

The subscription-based carwash service charges members between $25 and $60 monthly, depending on the package selected. Operating locations span across numerous states including California, Florida, Iowa, Nebraska, Texas, Utah, and Pennsylvania. The company has grown to a $2 billion valuation, according to Derulo.

Yet the entertainer remains realistic about business outcomes. "I got a lot of worst investments, a lot of those," he shared with E!. "I think it's important for people to know that it'll probably go wrong way more times than it's gonna go well—but you only need one to go well."

He elaborated on his philosophy: "And if you get more than one, fantastic. But you only need really one. Gotta get lucky one time."

Beyond Rocket Carwash, Derulo's business portfolio includes the restaurant Catch LA. Still, he emphasized that these ventures pale in comparison to his true passion.

"Every single time I'm about to go perform—and every single time after I perform—I say, 'Thank you, God, for me to be able to do the thing that I love to do most,'" he explained. "I say, 'Thank you, God, that I'm able to make the music that I'm making, for people to actually listen to it.'"

He concluded: "That is what passion is. That is what happiness is. It's not about any dollar or any amount of money."
