Jeff Bezos Opts Out of Met Gala Red Carpet, Meets Wife Lauren Sanchez Bezos Inside the Venue

Jeff Bezos kept his presence understated at the 2026 Met Gala.

The 62-year-old Amazon founder bypassed the red carpet entirely before arriving at the gala held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday, May 4. Once inside, he was photographed alongside his wife Lauren Sanchez Bezos at their table.

Bezos dressed in traditional black-tie style for the evening, sporting a classic black tuxedo. His wife, 56, recirculated in the same navy Schiaparelli gown featuring a plunging neckline that she had worn during the red carpet portion of the event.

Lauren holds a significant role this year as one of the honorary chairs of the gala. The annual celebration, considered fashion's biggest night, brings together hundreds of A-list celebrities. This year's exhibition at the Met focuses on costume art and examines "the 'centrality of the dressed body' through depictions and interpretations of the human form in the Met's extensive collection." The theme for attendees is "Fashion is Art," with co-chairs including Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and former Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.

The couple had already made waves before the main event, hosting an exclusive star-studded pre-party in New York over the weekend.
