Jeff Probst Opens Up About Accidentally Spoiling Survivor 50 Elimination at Live Finale

Jeff Probst is breaking down the behind-the-scenes circumstances that led to him accidentally revealing a major spoiler during Wednesday's Survivor 50 live season finale.
The longtime host unintentionally disclosed that Rizo Velovic had been eliminated before the episode aired publicly. During an appearance on CBS Mornings on Thursday, Probst provided details about how the slip-up occurred.
"What's happening when you're doing a Survivor finale is you're running the show, the episode, and then you're doing these live hits where I come out, and I talk to one of these players. I'm not watching the show," Probst explained.
He elaborated that he had been backstage preparing to interact with Velovic when the error happened. "I'm backstage getting ready for my funny question with Rizo about it. 'If only he had practiced fire-making.' So I come out, we're all set up on the stage, we've got an empty seat for Rizo. I don't think anything's weird," Probst continued.
It wasn't until his conversation with Velovic began that the severity of the mistake became apparent. "It wasn't until I started talking to Rizo about losing in fire…I'm telling you, we had 1,200 people here, I could collectively feel the energy go to [the shocked face emoji]," Probst recounted.
The evening proceeded without further complications, and the season's winner was ultimately announced as planned.
