Jelly Roll Addresses Divorce During Concert Performance; Bunnie XO Details the Events Leading to Split

Jelly Roll took to the stage in upstate New York on Thursday (June 18) to address his divorce from Bunnie XO, offering the country music star's first public remarks on the matter.

During his concert performance, Jelly Roll reflected on misinformation circulating online. "I wasn't going to talk about this tonight, but while we're talking about liars, the Internet is a liar too," he said from the stage. He went on to clarify the nature of their separation and emphasized the enduring bond between them.

"It's the only time, and the only city I'm gonna speak about this. Me and my wife are best friends. We will always be best friends. We just got off the phone earlier today. Nobody cheated on nobody. She just did a whole podcast about it. You can go watch it. Every word of it is the truth. That will be my best friend forever… Bunnie, I love you, baby. Thank you for those 10 years. They were incredible. Thank you for the next 10 years of friendship and 20 beyond that," he expressed.

Following his remarks, Bunnie XO provided her account of what precipitated the divorce on her podcast. She revealed that a Mother's Day disagreement served as the catalyst, during which she made a statement she would later come to regret.

"On Mother's Day we had a little bit of an argument, which I don't think the details are necessary. I was so fed up and so tired that I just looked at him and I said, 'Well, then file the f–king divorce papers,'" Bunnie explained. She characterized this as a significant breach in their relationship dynamics, noting it represented a boundary they had maintained throughout their time together.

"And in our relationship that is the one cardinal thing that you don't say. Even though my husband has said it numerous times 'cause he's the runner," she continued. Bunnie emphasized that her words carried particular weight given her nature. "Bunnie said that when she says something like that, it holds more weight because she's 'not the type of person who says what I don't mean.'"

Following the argument, Bunnie left their home with a packed bag. After a week of silence between them, Jelly Roll proceeded to file divorce papers—taking her statement at face value.

"During that, he was so mad and we were so emotional that he ended up doing exactly what I told him to do and filing the divorce papers. Was I blindsided? And was this divorce mutual? No, it was not mutual. Even though I told him to file the divorce papers, I was speaking out of anger and just frustration," Bunnie stated.

Despite the circumstances, Bunnie suggested the separation may have served a necessary purpose for their relationship. "Was it necessary for us to have a wakeup call and to actually start having these real conversations? Absolutely," she said.

Bunnie disclosed that she had hoped they would work through their issues together. "He's my best friend. I don't care how f–ked up our relationship was—which it wasn't that f–ked up. I don't care how much we didn't communicate or how things shook out. I was riding with this motherf–ker till the wheels fell off," she shared. "I didn't care. I felt like we deserved a chance to go to therapy and figure s–t out. He didn't feel that way and I respect it. It took me a month and a half now to respect that. But I'm so happy. So, so, so happy."

Bunnie also confirmed that Jelly Roll has already begun dating again and shared her perspective on what qualities she hopes his next partner will possess.
