Jennifer Aniston Opens Up About Skipping the Met Gala Throughout Her Career

While many A-list celebrities have graced the steps of the Met Gala over the years, there's a surprisingly long list of major stars who have never set foot at the Anna Wintour-led gala. Jennifer Aniston is among them.

The 56-year-old Friends actress, whose career took off during the 1990s, has notably never attended the prestigious annual event—a fact that may surprise many given her prominent place in Hollywood.

When asked about her absence from the red carpet staple, Aniston opened up about what holds her back. "It overwhelms me. It's the getting ready, the putting on the dress. I'm a 'jeans and flip-flops and tank top' kind of girl," she told Glamour. "I love dressing up too, but for me it's a mental game of… 'Let's get dressed up, put on a fancy dress, makeup, get your hair all 'purdy' and go sit in a big room with your peers.'"

Beyond her preference for low-key fashion, Aniston acknowledged that the event itself triggers anxiety. "Everyone's there to celebrate each other and have some fun, but I get nervous," she explained.

The actress also pointed to a deeper concern tied to her public profile. "I even get a little anxious about public speaking, especially over the years of having your words twisted and taken out of context," she said.
