Jerry O'Connell Shares How His Mom Offered Him an Out Before His Wedding to Rebecca Romijn

Jerry O'Connell opened up about a memorable moment with his mother that took place on his wedding day to Rebecca Romijn.
The 52-year-old actor sat down with his mom, Linda O'Connell, on Live with Kelly and Mark on Friday, May 8, to discuss the period before he walked down the aisle with his now-wife, who is 53.
Linda shared that she had a habit of speaking her mind when Jerry was dating someone she wasn't fond of, often telling him to drop them. But her approach shifted dramatically on his actual wedding day.
"The day I got married, I stayed with my parents — because my wife stayed with her family and we didn't see each other until we got at the altar. But we did get in the car on the way to the wedding and my mother was like," Jerry recalled, then adopted a playful mafia-style accent to deliver her message.
"'Listen, if you feel uncomfortable about this. You don't have to do this,'" he recounted. "'You don't gotta do this! I'm just sayin'! You can, if you want… You can go to the airport — no questions. We'll cover for you. It's okay. You sure about this? She's a beautiful girl, she's very nice, but you sure about this?'"
Despite the humorous offer of an escape route, Jerry made clear that his mother adores Rebecca. Linda confirmed her affection for her daughter-in-law, saying simply, "I do."
Jerry and Rebecca tied the knot in 2007 and are parents to twin daughters, Dolly and Charlie, who are now 17 years old.
The Stand By Me actor also revealed that he's adopted some of his mother's parenting philosophy with his own children, regularly encouraging them to explore dating rather than settle down too quickly.
"I sit down with them and I say, 'Girls, you gotta play the field. You can't just go out with one!'" he shared. "I see their friends who are in relationships and they don't have fun anymore."
