Joe Alwyn commanded attention at the 2026 Met Gala on Monday evening, arriving at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City in a striking custom creation from Valentino.

The 35-year-old actor's ensemble was conceived exclusively for him by Valentino creative director Alessandro Michele. The sophisticated look centered around a hand-pleated taupe crepe de chine shirt with a draped neckline, paired with a pleated geranium satin belt and black satin cady trousers featuring front pleat detailing. Valentino Garavani accessories completed the refined presentation.

Behind the polished appearance was a collaborative effort between makeup artist Holly Silius and stylist Rose Forde. The creative team drew inspiration from Roman sculptures, aiming for an androgynous aesthetic with subtle feminine undertones. They pursued a porcelain-skin finish with what Silius described as a "cloud-makeup twist."

"Rose always has incredible mood boards and ideas," Silius told Vogue. "We work really well together. I kind of understand the way she describes [things] and how she wants the look to come together because it's very character-driven."

To maintain a sense of masculinity in the overall look, Silius left the under-eye area untouched, with subtle contouring along the jawline. "It makes them look hot," she explained. "Just see, but in a photo, it makes them look like a bit more sexy."

The result was a striking, carefully considered appearance that balanced sculptural elegance with contemporary edge.
