John Travolta and Daughter Ella Bleu Make Red Carpet Appearance at 'Propeller' New York Premiere

John Travolta brought his directorial debut to New York City this week, celebrating the premiere of "Propeller One-Way Night Coach" at the Museum of Modern Art on Thursday, May 21. The 72-year-old filmmaker was accompanied by his 26-year-old daughter, Ella Bleu Travolta, who appears in the film.

Set during aviation's golden age, the movie follows a young plane enthusiast named Jeff (Clark Shotwell) and his mother (Kelly Eviston-Quinnett) on a one-way journey across the country to Hollywood. Along their transformative flight, they encounter charming flight attendants, including Ella Bleu Travolta and Olga Hoffmann, unexpected layovers, memorable fellow passengers, and a taste of first-class luxury. Travolta provides narration for the film and portrays the older version of the main character.

The premiere drew several of the film's cast members, including Shotwell, Eviston-Quinnett, Hoffmann, and co-star Alina Rose Armstrong.

Travolta has become something of a fashion statement at recent events, sporting a beret at both the New York premiere and during the Cannes Film Festival earlier in the week, where he also premiered the film. When asked about the distinctive look at Cannes, Travolta explained his approach to embodying a director's persona.

"The old school directors wore berets and the glasses. And I thought, that's what I'm doing," he said in an interview with CNN. He went on to describe how he decided to fully commit to the role: "I've been around for over 50 years doing movies, but I can't tell, when I look back, the difference between the events. And I said, 'I'm a director this time. You're an actor, play the part of a director. Look like an old school director.'" Travolta noted that he researched vintage photographs of acclaimed directors from the past to refine the aesthetic.

The film will debut on Apple TV on Friday, May 29. Ella Bleu Travolta is the daughter of John and his late wife, Kelly Preston, who passed away in 2020 at age 57, two years after her breast cancer diagnosis.
