John Travolta Celebrates Honorary Palme d'Or with Daughter Ella at Cannes Film Festival

The 72-year-old actor made an emotional appearance at the Cannes Film Festival on Saturday, May 16, showcasing his newly awarded honorary Palme d'Or at a photocall for his directorial debut, "Propeller One-Way Night."
Travolta was joined by his 26-year-old daughter, Ella Bleu Travolta, who plays one of the film's leads. The event at Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France also featured cast members Edouard Philipponnat, Kelly B. Eviston, Clark Shotwell, and Olga Hoffmann.
The prestigious award came as a surprise during the film's world premiere the previous evening. Reflecting on the honor, Travolta expressed his astonishment, saying: "I can't believe this. This is the last thing I expected." He described the moment as "humbling" and noted that the recognition surpassed his expectations, calling it "beyond the Oscar."
Travolta not only directed the project but also wrote the screenplay and appears in the film as the older version of its protagonist. The story, set during aviation's golden age, follows a young airplane enthusiast named Jeff and his mother as they embark on a cross-country journey to Hollywood. Their adventure aboard a commercial flight introduces them to charming flight attendants, unexpected stops, and memorable fellow passengers, ultimately shaping the boy's future.
The ensemble cast brings to life a narrative that balances whimsical moments with deeper emotional resonance throughout the flight-based odyssey.
"Propeller One-Way Night" will premiere on Apple TV beginning Friday, May 29.
