Jon Bernthal on Working With Christopher Nolan: "It Is Almost Inhuman" His Work Ethic

Jon Bernthal is singing the praises of Christopher Nolan following their collaboration on the forthcoming film The Odyssey.

The 49-year-old actor takes on the role of Menelaus, the king of Sparta, in the project helmed by the celebrated director. During a recent sit-down, Bernthal opened up about his experience working alongside Nolan and shared a meaningful moment he had with his fellow cast members.

"Nolan is a guy who was literally put on earth to do the very thing that he's doing," Bernthal told Esquire. "There's no one working as hard as him. It is almost inhuman, his appetite and hunger to work and to drive forward. He is the quintessential perfect leader. You would follow him anywhere."

The actor also reflected on a dinner gathering with his co-stars after completing his scenes on set. At the occasion, Bernthal addressed the group with a heartfelt message about their shared experience.

"I told them, 'Whatever you think in the day-to-day, just know you are going to look back on this and it will be the defining moments of your life. These relationships, these friendships, what you guys have built together, not because you're part of this unbelievable movie, not because it's got to be the biggest movie in the world, but because of the blood, sweat, and tears that you guys laid out with each other, for each other, every single day.'"

The Odyssey boasts an impressive ensemble that includes Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, and the married pair Tom Holland and Zendaya. Bernthal also shares screen time with Holland and Zendaya in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

When asked about the couple, Bernthal expressed genuine warmth. "I love him; I love his other half," he shared with Esquire. "I love them as a couple."
