Josh Peck Opens Up About His Actual Earnings From 'Drake & Josh'

The 39-year-old actor sat down recently to discuss the financial realities of his time on Nickelodeon, revealing figures that may surprise fans who assumed the network years were a massive payday.

During an appearance on the Financial Tea with Mrs. Dow Jones podcast on Thursday, June 25, Peck broke down the numbers alongside co-star Drake Bell's experience. His initial work on The Amanda Show brought in $3,000 per episode, a starting point that would increase significantly once Drake & Josh launched.

Over the show's four-year run—spanning approximately 60 episodes—Peck and Bell earned an average of $15,000 per episode. That calculation adds up to roughly $900,000 combined for the entire series. However, that headline figure tells only part of the story.

After accounting for taxes, management fees, and other professional expenses, the deductions consumed about half the total. This left the actors with approximately $125,000 annually—a respectable income, certainly, but not the life-changing fortune many might imagine.

"People always assume that it's so much more, and why would you ever have to work again?" Peck explained to host Haley Sacks. "But of course, if you made the salary of a dentist or something like that, you couldn't just stop working after four years."

The actor, who has also starred in Grandfathered, credited his upbringing with shaping his financial mindset. Raised by a single mother, he became the family's primary earner at a young age—a responsibility that instilled what he describes as a persistent drive to maintain financial security.

"If you have it ingrained in you that you never want to be broke again, you will run like your pants are on fire for as long as you can," Peck reflected. "I saw that in myself forever, just a deep financial insecurity that drove everything I did."
