Justin Cary, the bassist for beloved 1990s rock act Sixpence None the Richer, has died at 50. He passed away on Thursday, June 18, following a serious stroke suffered the previous week.

A GoFundMe campaign had been established by friends to assist Cary and his wife Linda during his hospitalization. In an update posted Thursday morning, organizers announced his passing.

"Justin passed peacefully this morning and Linda was next to him please continue to pray and give strength during this very difficult time," the fundraiser noted.

Sixpence None the Richer frontwoman Leigh Nash shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, reflecting on their years together. "We sure had a great time is an understatement. Thank you, Justin. We love you forever. Please keep his dear Linda close to your hearts. She is our family. There's never been anybody like Justin," Nash wrote.

The band achieved major success during the 1990s with breakout tracks including "Kiss Me" and "There She Goes," cementing their place in the era's rock landscape.
