Justin Hartley Opens Up About Keeping His Marriage to Sofia Pernas Private and Sacred

Justin Hartley rarely discusses his personal life publicly, but the 49-year-old actor made an exception during a recent appearance on Tommy DiDario's podcast, I've Never Said This Before.

The Tracker star, who has been married to Sofia Pernas since 2021, opened up about his philosophy on maintaining a strong marriage. During the Tuesday, May 5 episode, Hartley reflected on what makes relationships endure in an age when so many people document their lives online.

"People write songs about it, people talk about it, and I think you want to believe that everyone has that in their life, you know, that everyone gets to a point where they meet their soulmate or whatever you want to call it," Hartley explained. "It's unfortunate that, I think, a lot of people don't, and that's sad. But when you do have it, man, you got to hold on to it."

He emphasized the delicate nature of romantic partnerships, noting, "It's so special and fragile, in some ways, and rare, unfortunately."

When asked about his 36-year-old wife, Hartley didn't hold back his affection. "She's everything. She's fantastic," he said.

The This Is Us alum credited his stepdad with teaching him a crucial lesson about relationships that he continues to follow today. His stepfather advised him to be selective about the people and relationships he allows into his life, as some individuals may struggle with seeing others thrive romantically.

"He said, 'You've got to take care of your relationship and be very protective of who you surround yourself with and what relationships you surround yourself with, because … there will be people in your life that you think are your friends, and they simply cannot handle your relationship. They can't handle it,'" Hartley recalled. "It's a strange thing, but it's true."

Hartley and Pernas began dating in 2020 before tying the knot the following year. Prior to his current marriage, Hartley was married to Chishell Stause for two years before their 2019 divorce. He was also previously married to Lindsay Korman from 2004 to 2012, and the two share a 21-year-old daughter, Isabella.

While Sofia occasionally accompanies her husband to red carpet events, the couple has largely maintained their privacy throughout their relationship.
