Kacey Musgraves Breaks Down Time Zones and "Slow Burn" Lyrics During Jake Shane's Therapuss Interview

Jake Shane's latest podcast episode has captured attention following his conversation with Kacey Musgraves.

The 37-year-old Grammy-winning artist sat down with the 26-year-old influencer on his show Therapuss earlier this week to talk through her album Middle of Nowhere. The two delved into her 2018 track "Slow Burn," which Musgraves highlighted as one of her most meaningful songs.

"I think ultimately, maybe 'Slow Burn.' I think it feels the best," Musgraves reflected. "I feel like I'm at home in my dead center whenever I'm playing that song."

During the discussion, Shane brought up a particular line that's been a point of curiosity. "My favorite line from that song, obviously, is 'Sun's going down, but in Beijing, they're headed out to work.' What do you mean by that? Me and Manny, who I work with, debate it every single day," he asked.

Musgraves offered a straightforward explanation, emphasizing that the lyric carries no hidden meaning. "It's not a 'deep-coded thing' and 'literally just means what it means,'" she said before walking Shane through the concept.

She painted the picture of her creative process: "I was sitting on my porch in Tennessee, and picturing these people around the world, doing their thing over there. You know, it's like the world just keeps turning."

The conversation also touched on other topics, including Musgraves' experience with tension in the country music community.
