Kate Mansi Departs 'General Hospital' After Three Years

Emmy-winning actress Kate Mansi has decided to exit 'General Hospital' after three years playing Kristina Corinthos-Davis on the ABC daytime soap. The actress chose not to renew her contract, and has already wrapped her final scenes for the series.
Mansi opened up about her departure in an interview with Soap Steph newsletter, explaining that the move was driven by several factors. "I have a few new projects that require my full attention and with my husband [Matt McInnis] currently producing a series filming primarily abroad, I needed the flexibility to travel while continuing to develop and work in Los Angeles," she shared.
Her husband is producing the upcoming Tomb Raider series, which stars Sophie Turner and films in England.
The actress expressed gratitude for her time on the show, highlighting the meaningful work she accomplished with the character. "I'm incredibly grateful to [executive producer] Frank [Valentini], ABC, and our writers for the care they gave Kristina," Mansi said. "It's been such a meaningful and unforgettable ride. I've loved being a fiery Corinthos-Davis girl in such a phenomenal family."
Among the storylines she was particularly proud of was the opportunity to portray an LGBTQ+ character in support of the queer community, as well as tackling an endometriosis narrative. "When Frank first approached me about the role, two things deeply resonated with me: the opportunity to show my support for the queer community by playing an LGBTQ+ character, and to help tell an endometriosis storyline," she explained. "Together, I truly feel we honored both of those stories in a way that mattered. And the fact that I got to direct was simply the icing on the cake!"
Executive producer Frank Valentini voiced his support for Mansi's decision. "We love Kate and support her decision to leave," he told Soap Steph. "The door is always open, and we appreciate all that she added to the show these past three years."
Mansi wrapped filming last month, with no plans to recast her character. An upcoming episode on May 26 will address Kristina's exit from the show, while her final episode is scheduled to air in June.
The actress was nominated for a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series last year for her work on 'General Hospital.' She previously won the same award in 2017 for her role as Abigail Deveraux on 'Days of Our Lives,' where she appeared from 2011 to 2016 and again from 2018 to 2020.
