Royal Family Gathers to Honor Queen Elizabeth II's 100th Birthday with Memorial Plans
Members of the British Royal Family assembled on Tuesday morning, April 21, to pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II on what would have marked her 100th birthday.
The day began with King Charles III and Queen Camilla visiting the British Museum, where they reviewed design proposals for the forthcoming memorial dedicated to the late monarch. Prime Minister Keir Starmer joined them for the viewing, alongside committee members and designer Lord Norman Foster. Those present examined a scale model of the planned structure and reviewed architectural renderings.
The memorial is slated for completion in 2028 and will be positioned at St. James' Park in London. The project will also include a children's trail and launch The Queen Elizabeth Trust, a new charity initiative spanning the United Kingdom established in her memory.
Separately, Princess Anne opened a public memorial to Queen Elizabeth at Regent's Park.
That evening, Prince William, Catherine Princess of Wales, Prince Edward, and Sophie the Duchess of Edinburgh attended a formal reception held at Buckingham Palace to mark the occasion.
