Katharine McPhee Remixes Tina Turner Classic to Rally for Spencer Pratt's LA Mayoral Campaign

Katharine McPhee is throwing her weight behind Spencer Pratt's bid to become Los Angeles mayor. The 42-year-old vocalist and American Idol veteran took the stage at a campaign fundraiser alongside her spouse, David Foster, to support the independent candidate.

During the event, McPhee put her own spin on Tina Turner's "The Best," rewriting the lyrics to spotlight Pratt's mayoral ambitions while directly referencing his competition. The performance called out current Mayor Karen Bass and City Councilmember Nithya Raman.

McPhee's revised verses read: "You're simply the best / Better than all the rest / Better than Karen Bass / And Nithya Raman / You've stuck to our hearts / We'll hang on every word you say / We've been torn apart / He's gonna fix this broken LA."

Though registered as a Republican, Pratt is running as an independent in the race. Financial disclosures show he has outpaced Bass in campaign fundraising since January 2026.

The connection between Pratt and Foster runs deep. The two have been acquainted since Pratt's teenage years through their mutual friendships with Brandon and Brody Jenner, Foster's former step-children. The trio appeared together on the short-lived reality series The Princes of Malibu.

Pratt has credited Foster with steering him toward his provocative on-screen persona. Speaking recently on SiriusXM's The Julia Cunningham Show, Pratt recalled Foster's advice: "David Foster, he was like, 'You need to be the Simon Cowell of reality TV.' And I didn't even watch American Idol. I didn't even know who Simon Cowell was. I was like, 'What? What does that mean? What are you talking about?' He's like, 'Be the bad guy. Be the villain.'"

Multiple celebrities have publicly endorsed Pratt's mayoral campaign.
