Katy Perry Expresses Interest in Performing with Lizzy McAlpine After Viral Cover

Katy Perry's 2008 track "Thinking of You" has been experiencing a resurgence on TikTok, and the latest boost came from an unexpected source: singer Lizzy McAlpine.

During an Instagram Live session, McAlpine performed an impromptu rendition of the song, starting with the standard version before transitioning to an acoustic take. A fan captured the moment and shared it on TikTok, where it caught the attention of Perry herself.

The pop star wasted no time responding to the cover. In a comment on the TikTok post, Perry wrote: "can someone tell her I want to sing this with her live… and we can sing the acoustics version."

"Thinking of You" originally appeared on Perry's 2008 debut album One of the Boys and was released as a single the following year, peaking at number 29 on the Billboard Hot 100. The track has earned Perry recognition for both her songwriting and the emotional depth she brings to its performance.

The song features the memorable lyrics: "When I'm with him, I am / Thinking of you (Thinking of you, thinking of you) / Thinking of you / What you would do if / You were the one who was / Spending the night (Spending the night, spending the night) / Oh, I wish that I / Was looking into your eyes."

Perry's public interest in collaborating with McAlpine on a live version of the acoustic arrangement adds another chapter to the song's enduring appeal among artists and listeners alike.
