Kelsey Grammer Opens Up About Potential Run for Political Office

Kelsey Grammer is keeping the door open to a political career.

During a recent sit-down with Us Weekly, the veteran actor revealed he's given serious thought to the possibility of running for office. The 71-year-old, best known for his role on Frasier, has been wrestling with the idea for some time.

"I would consider it. It would possibly tick that box for me, in terms of the service I feel I should have given to my fellow man – to my fellow countrymen – that I missed in the military," Grammer shared. "Maybe [running for office] would be the way to do it."

While the Emmy-winning performer hasn't ruled out a future in politics, he's currently focused on his personal life. Grammer, who hosts the Fox Nation series The Patriot War, emphasized the importance of being present for his eight children.

"I have a young family. I don't want to be an absentee dad, so I put it on hold a little bit, but I do intend to live for quite a while," he explained. "I'm vital and prepared to stay that way for quite a while, and yes, it's likely I will at least throw my hat in the ring in some way."

The actor and his wife Kayte welcomed their fourth child together, a son named Christopher, in October 2025. Grammer also has four adult children from previous relationships.

A longtime Republican and outspoken political voice, Grammer has been closely aligned with the Trump administration. In a previous interview, the Cheers alum praised the 80-year-old president, calling him "one of the greatest presidents we've ever had. Maybe the greatest."

Should Grammer pursue elected office, he'd join a growing list of entertainers who've ventured into the political arena throughout the years.
