Kid Cudi has ended M.I.A.'s run as an opener on his Rebel Ragers Tour following controversial statements she made during recent performances.

The 50-year-old artist took to Instagram on Monday, May 4, to announce the split. In his statement, Cudi explained that he had previously instructed his management to notify M.I.A.'s team about his expectations before the tour launched, emphasizing that he did not want anything offensive presented at his shows.

"After the last couple shows, I've been flooded with messages from fans that were upset by her rants," Cudi wrote. "This, to me, is very disappointing, and I wont have someone on my tour making offensive remarks that upsets my fanbase."

During her recent performances as a tour opener, M.I.A. made several statements that drew audience disapproval. She reportedly told crowds, "I've been canceled for many reasons. I never thought I would be canceled for being a brown Republican voter." She also referenced one of her well-known songs, saying, "I can't do 'Illegal,' though some of you could be in the audience." The remarks were met with boos from the audience.

Cudi concluded his announcement by thanking supporters for their understanding and signing off with his signature "Rager" sign-off.
