Kim Kardashian and Emma Roberts Team Up as Producers on Netflix's New YA Drama 'Calabasas'

Kim Kardashian and Emma Roberts are joining forces on a new project at Netflix, moving from their on-screen collaboration to production roles.
The American Horror Story: Delicate co-stars will serve as producers on the upcoming YA drama Calabasas, which has received a series order from the streaming platform. Chris Van Dusen is attached as showrunner and executive producer, marking his first project under an overall deal with Netflix.
The series draws inspiration from Via Bleidner's book "If You Lived Here You'd Be Famous By Now." The story centers on the ambitious daughter of a headmaster at an elite private school located in one of the country's most exclusive communities. Her carefully constructed life takes an unexpected turn when she becomes entangled in a romance with a boy who challenges everything about her world rather than conforming to its expectations. The narrative explores how appearances can mask true desires, with love becoming an act of rebellion within Calabasas's privileged confines.
Development on the project began in 2024 and has undergone significant changes under Van Dusen's direction. Previously, Pretty Little Liars creator I Marlene King had served as showrunner, and the series operated under a different storyline.
Alongside the fictional drama, Netflix is launching Calabasas Confidential, a reality series that follows a group of lifelong friends, rivals, and former romantic partners who reunite in their hometown after college. Returning to their families' hillside estates for a transformative summer, the cast confronts unresolved tensions and relationship complications while navigating the next chapter of their lives. Despite four years of separation, new romantic interests, lingering conflicts, and concealed truths emerge within LA's most coveted zip code.
The reality cast includes Jodie Woods, the younger sister of Jordyn Woods, and Preston Pippen, son of Scottie and Larsa Pippen. The ensemble also features Alexie Olivo, Ben Favaedi, Dylan Wolf, Emilie Nelson, Emma Medrano, Hercy Miller, Jemma Durrant, Kimora Lewis, Nicole Sahebi, Raine Michaels, Sterling Retzlaff, and Suede Brooks.
