Kim Kardashian Stuns in Sculpted Breastplate at 2026 Met Gala

Kim Kardashian made a bold statement on the red carpet at the 2026 Met Gala, held Monday, May 4, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The 45-year-old reality star and actress turned heads in a striking custom creation for her 13th appearance at the prestigious annual event.
The standout ensemble featured a tangerine fiberglass breastplate designed by British artist Allen Jones, paired with a leather skirt by Whitaker Malem and Christian Louboutin heels. The piece came together over three weeks, with the fiberglass sourced and finished at an auto body shop for painting.
Speaking to Vogue about her fashion choice, Kardashian expressed her admiration for Jones' influence in the industry. "I have seen his work referenced so many times by people in fashion, and I've always been, like, a big admirer of his work," she shared. She went on to describe her vision for the look: "Allen Jones would be iconic. Sexy. Classic. Cool. Innovative."
The breastplate itself was repurposed from a casting Jones created during the 1960s. Rather than having a new mold made from her own body, Kardashian opted for the vintage piece. "I wanted something original, I didn't want to cast my own body," she explained.
To accommodate movement, the original full-body cast was shortened into a breastplate silhouette. The accompanying leather skirt, created by Patrick Whitaker and Keir Malem, featured sunset orange brush strokes hand-applied by Jones himself.
Kardashian emphasized that Jones prioritized contemporary work over archival pieces. "He was adamant that it be something current and fresh that he had just worked on – not just a piece from his past," she noted.
