EJAE and Rei Ami of KPop Demon Hunters Win Song of the Year at 2026 AMAs

KPop Demon Hunters claimed a major victory at the 2026 American Music Awards on Monday evening.
The animated film's vocal performers, EJAE and Rei Ami, accepted the Song of the Year award at the ceremony held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 25. The pair appeared without bandmate Audrey Nuna.
The duo's track "Golden" earned the recognition after previously winning Best Original Song at this year's Academy Awards.
During their acceptance remarks, EJAE highlighted the importance of fan support to the project's success. "This movie, this song is fueled by the fans. You guys seal the mood. The fact that this is voted by the fans, that's what means so much. Thank you so much to the fans," the artist expressed.
Rei kept their remarks brief but heartfelt, saying, "Thank you to all the fans that voted. KPop Demon Hunters would not be what it is without our passionate fandom."
The Song of the Year category featured strong competition from a diverse slate of artists. Other nominees included Alex Warren for "Ordinary," Ella Langley for "Choosin' Texas," Kehlani for "Folded," Leon Thomas for "Mutt," Morgan Wallen for "I'm the Problem," Olivia Dean for "Man I Need," Sabrina Carpenter for "Manchild," Sombr for "Back to Friends," and Taylor Swift for "The Fate of Ophelia."
The 2026 American Music Awards was hosted by Queen Latifah, marking her return to the hosting duties after more than three decades. Taylor Swift led the night's nominations with eight total nods across various categories.
