Kristen Stewart Stars in 'The Wrong Girls,' Directed by Spouse Dylan Meyer

Kristen Stewart and Alia Shawkat are joining forces for an unconventional comedy that marks a significant creative collaboration—Neon has released the first stills from The Wrong Girls, helmed by director and writer Dylan Meyer, who is married to Stewart.

The newly released images offer a glimpse into the film's offbeat sensibility, showcasing the two leads in several fraught scenarios. One particularly striking moment captures them crouched beside a luminescent briefcase, hinting at the mayhem that unfolds throughout the story.

At its core, the film centers on two deeply intertwined best friends scraping by financially while navigating life in a perpetual haze. Their comfortable stasis shatters when a case of mistaken identity sends their worlds spiraling. The situation intensifies when Molly's romantic partner proposes cohabitation just as Frankie inadvertently becomes the unwitting holder of a briefcase containing experimental psychedelic compounds that glow in the dark.

Meyer expanded on her vision in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, describing her protagonists as "codependent boneheads" who have spent a decade insulated from adult responsibilities. She emphasized the film as a tribute to the unconventional women and the platonic bonds that sustain them, noting inspiration drawn from her own friendship with producing partner Maggie McLean.

The ensemble cast includes LaKeith Stanfield, Zack Fox, Seth Rogen, Kumail Nanjiani, Kate McKinnon, Tony Hale, and Geena Davis.

The Wrong Girls is scheduled for theatrical release on August 14, 2026.
