Kyle Busch, one of NASCAR's most decorated drivers, has passed away at age 41, just hours after his family disclosed that he had been admitted to the hospital with a serious medical condition.

Richard Childress Racing and NASCAR confirmed the news in a statement released jointly on behalf of the Busch family. "On behalf of the Busch family, everyone at Richard Childress Racing and all of NASCAR, we are devastated to announce the sudden and tragic passing of Kyle Busch," the statement read.

The racing community mourned the loss of the driver, who was widely regarded as a generational talent. "A future Hall of Famer, Kyle was a rare talent, one who comes along once in a generation. He was fierce, he was passionate, he was immensely skilled and he cared deeply about the sport and fans," the statement continued.

Over his career spanning more than two decades, Busch established himself as one of the most accomplished drivers in the sport's history. He holds records for national series wins, claimed championships at NASCAR's premier level, and played a significant role in developing the next generation of drivers through his ownership stake in the Truck Series.

The statement highlighted Busch's magnetic appeal to fans, noting that "his sharp wit and competitive spirit sparked a deep emotional connection with race fans of every age, creating the proud and loyal 'Rowdy Nation.'"

Busch is survived by his wife Samantha and their two children, Brexton and Lennix. The statement extended condolences to his parents, his brother Kurt, and the broader racing family at Richard Childress Racing and beyond.

"NASCAR lost a giant of the sport today, far too soon," the joint statement concluded. The family has requested privacy during this time of grief.
