Samantha Busch and the couple's two children, Brexton and Lennix, appeared at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Sunday (May 24) for a special NASCAR tribute honoring the late driver. The 11-year-old and 4-year-old were joined by Kyle's brother Kurt Busch and his girlfriend Lyda Moore, as well as their parents Tom and Gaye, during the NASCAR Cup Series Coca-Cola 600 event.

The gathering marked the family's first public outing following Kyle's passing the previous Thursday (May 21). The driver had been set to compete in the race before falling ill with severe pneumonia, which developed into sepsis.

NASCAR CEO Steve O'Donnell presided over the remembrance ceremony, reflecting on the driver's competitive spirit and character beyond the track.

"Every racetrack was Kyle Busch's home," O'Donnell said. "He competed like he had something to prove every single race, when in reality he had already proven everything. What I think we'll miss the most isn't the wins. It's the guy who quietly wanted to help a teammate, give some advice, the husband, the father, the guy who quietly did thing for other when no one was watching."

O'Donnell addressed Samantha and their sons directly during the ceremony. "Samantha, I want you to know that this sport stands with you, and you and your children are NASCAR family forever. Brexton and Lennix, your dad loves you with all his heart," he stated. "Everyone gathered here, everyone behind you, everyone watching on TV and all those people up in that grandstand, they are your family and we've got you."

He concluded by emphasizing Kyle's singular place in racing history: "Kyle Busch is NASCAR. He was one of a kind, and there will never be another."

Richard Childress Racing announced plans to preserve Kyle's legacy through his son. The team suspended use of the iconic No. 8, which Kyle had helped design, shifting to the No. 33 for the Charlotte event and beyond.

"Kyle Busch was instrumental in the design of RCR's stylized No. 8 and it has become synonymous with Kyle and an important symbol for his fans and the NASCAR industry," the team shared. "No one can carry it forward to the level that he did. The No. 8 is reserved and ready for Brexton Busch when he is ready to go NASCAR racing."
