Lanterns: New DCU Series Adds 14 Cast Members, Features Returning Hero

The DC Universe's latest small-screen venture is taking flight this summer. Lanterns, the television series announced by DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn as part of the studio's new slate of projects, is set to land on screens soon.

The show centers on rookie officer John Stewart and legendary Green Lantern Hal Jordan, two intergalactic law enforcers who find themselves pulled into a mysterious case rooted on Earth. Their investigation into a murder in the American heartland drives the narrative of the series.

Viewers can expect to see the show premiere on August 16th across HBO and HBO Max. A teaser trailer has already given fans a first look at what's coming.

The casting process has been busy, with 14 actors joining the ensemble. Notably, one established DCU performer is returning to the universe in a new role for the series. Meanwhile, at least one actor passed on the opportunity to be part of the project.

The full roster of cast members and details about the returning star's involvement are being revealed as production moves forward on the series.
