April 21, 2026

Lee Najjar, the prominent Atlanta real estate developer famously known as "Big Poppa," has died at age 68. He passed away on April 18, with news of his death confirmed through an Instagram Story post from his daughter, Katelin.

Najjar gained public recognition as the off-camera figure on Real Housewives of Atlanta, where he was depicted as the financial supporter behind cast member Kim Zolciak's lavish lifestyle. At the time, Zolciak addressed their relationship publicly, revealing that while Najjar was legally married, he was estranged from his wife. The couple dated on and off, initially breaking up in 2009 before reconciling in 2010. Zolciak eventually moved on, marrying NFL player Kroy Biermann in 2011. Biermann filed for divorce in 2023.

Tributes to Najjar have poured in from those close to him. In a heartfelt post, Katelin shared memories of her father, writing about their deep bond spanning over 25 years and describing him as someone who would do anything for her happiness. She recalled his sharp sense of humor and wit, noting that his one-liners and comedic timing will be greatly missed.

"I loved when he wrote me cards, he knew it meant everything to me," Katelin wrote, sharing a photo of a handwritten note from her father.

Another tribute emphasized Najjar's character beyond business acumen. The post highlighted his warmth toward family, his intelligence as a businessman, and his genuine humor. It also referenced his love of Arabic music and traditional cuisine, with a note that he would be "listening to Amr Diab and eating grape leaves" in heaven.

Najjar was married to Kimberly Najjar and had two children with her: Katelin and Jeremy.

A cause of death has not been disclosed. His family has requested prayers during this time of loss.
