Lindsay Lohan and Kit Harington Discuss Playing Spouses in 'Count My Lies' at Disney Upfronts

The cast of the upcoming Hulu limited series Count My Lies made an appearance at the 2026 Disney Upfronts held at Jacob Javit Center in New York City on Tuesday, May 12. Lindsay Lohan, Kit Harington, and Shailene Woodley were present to give audiences their first official glimpse at the adaptation of Sophie Stava's novel of the same name.
The series follows Sloane Caraway, a chronic liar portrayed by Woodley, who deceives her way into a nanny position for Violet and Jay Lockhart, played by Lohan and Harington respectively. According to the show's synopsis, Sloane's new household is filled with secrets that soon threaten to unravel with potentially serious repercussions for everyone involved. The production is still underway.
During their time on the carpet, Lohan and Harington opened up about the experience of playing a married couple throughout the series. Lohan revealed that much of their downtime between takes involves staying connected with their own families. "A lot of our time on set when the cameras aren't rolling [is] texting with our spouses and kids and showing videos of children," she shared.
On navigating motherhood alongside her acting commitments, Lohan explained her approach to the balance. "I think you find a good mix in time and especially, like, when you have that kind of relationship with your partner, you guys kind of work it out and you go with the flow and it all kind of falls into place," she said.
Harington, who has recently taken on father roles, reflected on the unique challenge of portraying a parent on screen while being one in real life. "Yeah. I'm sort of recently sort of moved into, like, dad roles… I mean, it's natural, isn't it? You're kind of dad off-camera, and then you come and be a dad on-camera," he noted. "But I find it odd. You go from being proper dad to fake dad… and trying to find, like, where they mix and you're like, 'But I'm not me, but I am me,' but it's odd. It can be a bit discombobulating."
For Lohan, Count My Lies marks a significant milestone in her career. The role represents her first leading part in a full scripted television series. "I mean, this is my first real scripted series that I'm playing a full role in. I've done, like, bits… here and there, so it's new for me in a lot of ways, I think, because it's refreshing," she explained. Lohan emphasized the importance of stepping away from her typical casting patterns. "The role for me is different, and that's really important to me. I always get kind of type cast into these romcoms and that kind of role. And it's important for me creatively to play other roles and try new characters and push myself, and this is one of those for me. So, I'm really excited for it."
Recent behind-the-scenes activity has given glimpses into production. A couple of weeks prior to the upfronts, Lohan and Woodley were spotted filming scenes together at a farmer's market, while Harington and Woodley had been seen shooting at a park in an earlier instance.
