Meet the Young Cast of Netflix's 'Lord of the Flies' Adaptation

Netflix has brought William Golding's landmark novel to the small screen for the very first time with a new four-part television series. Emmy-winning writer Jack Thorne penned the adaptation, while director Marc Munden helms the project.
The series follows a group of English schoolboys stranded on a desert island as innocence gives way to chaos. According to the official description, the show explores what happens when civilization crumbles among young castaways.
Thorne spoke about the contemporary relevance of the material, noting that society is currently grappling with questions about young men. "We're losing a generation of boys, and we're losing it because of the hate they are ingesting — because it is an answer to their loneliness and isolation," he explained. Upon revisiting the source material, Thorne found himself drawn to its nuanced portrayal of young people navigating complicated emotions surrounding status and anger.
