Love on the Spectrum's Pari Kim Mourns Death of Her Mother Esme Following Cancer Diagnosis

Pari Kim is grieving the loss of her mother Esme, who has died after a battle with cancer. The 24-year-old Netflix reality television personality was featured on Love on the Spectrum season three, where viewers watched her navigate life alongside her mother during her illness.

Kim's appearance on the show also introduced audiences to her relationship with Tina Zhu Xi Caruso, whom she met on the program. The pair dated for a time before recently ending their relationship.

The loss of her mother marks the second major tragedy in Kim's life. Her father passed away in 2020, meaning she has lost both parents before reaching her mid-twenties.

Taking to Instagram, Kim shared her feelings about the significance of parental relationships. "If you still have parents and they are loving and caring to you, please be grateful and know how lucky you are! Time is precious and I didn't expect to lose both of them so young!" she wrote on her story.

In a longer post, Kim reflected on the weight of grief and the internal struggle between processing loss and maintaining forward momentum. "Grief and tragedy is not easy and feels very unpleasant. It feels like everything is becoming a train wreck and that there are two sides of yourself constantly fighting: the sad, lonely girl missing what was cruelly and unfairly taken from her at such a young age and the girl who has to stay strong and positive because she can't give up if she wants to keep moving forward," she wrote.

She continued: "Not every train track is a smooth ride. Sometimes the going gets rough and you need other trains to help you pull through and carry the weight of the world on your shoulders. It's difficult to keep chugging along when your guardian locomotive reaches the end of the line but you have to keep going somehow even without her."

Kim's castmates from the series rallied around her following the announcement. Her ex-partner Tina commented, "Thinking of you a lot. Know there's so many people who love you."

Madison Marilla added her support, writing, "Soooooooo sorry to hear about the loss of your mom!! She fought very hard!! Your LOTS family is always here for you!!"

Dani Bowman also reached out with a simple message of solidarity: "I'm always here for you."
