Luke Evans Leads Star-Packed 'Rocky Horror Show' Broadway Debut to Critical Acclaim

April 23, 2026

The long-anticipated Broadway revival of The Rocky Horror Show has officially launched, bringing the cult classic to the stage with a powerhouse ensemble.

Luke Evans and his castmates took to the red carpet Thursday evening (April 23) at Studio 54 in New York City for the opening night celebration. Joining Evans on the carpet were Stephanie Hsu, Andrew Durand, Juliette Lewis, Michaela Jae Rodriguez, Amber Gray, Rachel Dratch, Josh Rivera, and Harvey Guillen.

The evening drew an impressive roster of celebrity attendees, including Susan Sarandon—who starred in the original Rocky Horror Picture Show film—alongside Jane Krakowski, Anna Wintour, and Marc Jacobs.

The critical response has been glowing. Entertainment Weekly highlighted Evans's work, describing it as a "commanding performance" that captivates audiences throughout. The review praised his ability to blend "dangerous sexuality and emotional vulnerability" while bringing his own distinctive flair to the iconic role.

The New York Times awarded the production a "Critic's Pick" designation, signaling strong approval from the publication's theater critics.

Originally premiering in London in 1973, The Rocky Horror Show predates its famous film adaptation by two years. The 1975 movie went on to become a cultural phenomenon, known for its interactive midnight screenings where audiences participate enthusiastically. Broadway audiences can expect similar audience engagement during the revival run.

The limited engagement is scheduled through July 19, having been extended due to robust ticket demand.
