Madonna Opens Up About Sex, Motherhood, and Her Deep Connection to LGBTQ+ Community in Grindr Confessions

Madonna is getting candid about intimacy and her lifelong relationship with the LGBTQ+ community.
The 67-year-old pop superstar participated in an exclusive conversation with Grindr alongside Jeremy O. Harris, Bob The Drag Queen, dancer Ivy Mugler, designer Raul Lopez, and i-D Global Beauty Editor Marcello Gutierrez. The sit-down took place as she gears up to release her upcoming album Confessions II.
Drawing inspiration from her iconic 1991 documentary Truth or Dare, the conversation touched on provocative topics. Madonna and her companions debated questions about physical preferences during sex, lighting preferences in the bedroom, and how family relationships can influence intimate connections. She reflected on the psychological dimensions of desire, noting that "if you have a bad relationship with your mother, it's not going to be good."
The discussion shifted to more reflective terrain when the group explored Madonna's profound influence on queer culture over the decades. She recalled the significance of her documentary's reach: "A lot of people tell me that when they watch Truth or Dare that was the first time they ever saw men kissing."
When Bob The Drag Queen asked about the protective aspects of motherhood, Madonna became more serious in her response. She drew a parallel between her role as a parent and her historical advocacy for the gay community during the AIDS crisis. "When I first came to New York and started seeing, especially at the beginning of the AIDS epidemic, I saw how sh–ty people were to gays and how that's all I wanted to do was take care of them and fight for them and give them courage," she explained. "When I was coming up, they were my ride or dies. So, I didn't feel judged by them."
She emphasized the reciprocal nature of these bonds: "I need you and you need me."
During the candid exchange, Madonna also revealed that John F. Kennedy Jr. was her most memorable intimate partner among those who have since passed away.
