Mae Schenk Steps Into the Role of Eloise in Netflix's Live-Action Adaptation Filming in NYC

Netflix is transforming the beloved children's book series Eloise into a live-action film, and the production is already underway in New York City.

Newcomer Mae Schenk was photographed on set Tuesday, May 26, bringing the iconic character to life during filming. She shared scenes with young co-star Isaac Bae during the day's shoot.

The project has assembled an impressive creative team and cast. Amy Sherman-Palladino, known for creating Gilmore Girls and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, is both directing and co-writing the film. Ryan Reynolds is attached to play the villain while also serving as a producer on the movie.

The supporting cast includes Sally Hawkins, Victor Garber, David Haig, and Max Casella.

Details about the story remain under wraps, though Netflix executive Hannah Minghella shared her enthusiasm for the adaptation in a statement. "Eloise has been beloved for generations, from when she was first published in the 1950s through to today, when no family trip to New York City is complete without a stop at The Plaza," Minghella said. "It's an honor to reintroduce this cherished character to the world with two people who share her signature mischief and charm — Amy Sherman-Palladino and Ryan Reynolds — in this bold, hilarious, and heartfelt new family film."
