Mandy Moore Reflects on Taylor Goldsmith's Traditional Proposal Approach, Contrasts with Ex Ryan Adams

Mandy Moore recently opened up about the differences between how her current husband and her ex-husband approached marriage, highlighting a meaningful family moment during her engagement to Taylor Goldsmith.

The 42-year-old actress and singer discussed the topic on a recent episode of the That Was Us podcast, noting that Goldsmith asked her father for his blessing before proposing—a gesture that stood out to her given her previous marriage to musician Ryan Adams.

"He was touched. I had been betrothed before, but that person did not ask my father. So I think my dad was very touched that it was done in the traditional way. My dad appreciates that," Moore explained.

She also shared that her father, while moved by the gesture, expressed some initial awkwardness about the formality of it all. "But I believe he also is super awkward. He was like, 'Oh gosh, you don't have to ask for my permission.' As Taylor recounted it to me," Moore said.

Moore and Adams were married in 2009 when she was 24 years old. The couple separated in 2015, with their divorce finalized the following year. Adams later faced accusations of abusive and manipulative behavior from Moore and other women.

Moore wed Goldsmith in 2018. The couple has two sons together: Gus, born in 2021, and Ozzie, born in 2022.
