Marion Cotillard Steps Out With 15-Year-Old Son Marcel at Cannes Premiere of 'Karma'

Marion Cotillard made a rare public appearance with her son at the Cannes Film Festival on Friday, May 15. The acclaimed actress brought her 15-year-old son Marcel to the premiere of her latest film, Karma, which screened during the 2025 edition of the festival in Cannes, France.
The film marks a significant professional reunion for Cotillard, as it was written and directed by Guillaume Canet, her former long-term partner. Cotillard takes on a leading role in the drama.
Karma follows Jeanne, a woman attempting to reconstruct her life in a northern Spanish village alongside Daniel, who remains unaware of her troubled background. When Mateo, her six-year-old godson, vanishes without explanation, Jeanne becomes the prime suspect in a police investigation. She flees to France and seeks refuge in the community of her youth, which is overseen by Marc. Despite his doubts about her involvement, Daniel resolves to locate her before law enforcement does.
The red-carpet appearance comes roughly a year after Cotillard and Canet announced their separation. The pair had been together for 18 years before deciding to part ways in June 2025 by mutual consent. Though they never married, the couple shares two children together.
A representative for both actors released a statement addressing their split: "After 18 years together, Marion Cotillard and Guillaume Canet have decided to separate by mutual agreement. This decision was made with mutual respect."
The statement continued, emphasizing their wish for privacy: "By being transparent through this statement, Marion Cotillard and Guillaume Canet also express their desire for their private lives, and especially that of their two children, to be respected."
