Francesca Scorsese Addresses Hateful Comments Following Mr & Mrs Smith Casting Announcement

Francesca Scorsese is pushing back against a barrage of negative commentary flooding social media.

The 26-year-old shared a video on TikTok over the weekend addressing the harsh feedback she received after reposting an announcement about her casting in Season 2 of Mr & Mrs Smith. The remarks, she explained, represented some of the most vicious attacks she's faced online to date.

"On my most recent repost about this new amazing role that I just got, it has some of the worst comments I have ever seen about me," she said in the video. While acknowledging that she's dealt with online criticism throughout her career, she emphasized that this latest wave crossed a line. "It just comes with the territory. But this is something else."

The comments, she noted, targeted both her physical appearance and her status as the daughter of acclaimed filmmaker Martin Scorsese—what's commonly referred to as having "nepo baby" status in industry circles.

Rather than deflecting, Scorsese acknowledged the advantages that have come her way while defending her work ethic. "I understand. I know I have doors opened for me. I'm still trying to do the work, I'm still going hard and being passionate and creating and doing the work," she explained.

She then directly addressed the specific insults she'd encountered. "Comparing me to a fridge or Miss Piggy or saying I have a face for radio and that I'm incredibly ugly and fat…I get it. I'm not the most beautiful girl in the world. I'm not the skinniest girl in the world. I'm chubby, I know it. But, like, what the f–k does it matter?" she said.

Scorsese encouraged her detractors to gain perspective by observing people in their everyday lives. "Go outside on the street, look at people around you. Look at your mom, look at your f–king sisters," she added.

She also reflected on the nature of those leaving hateful comments, stating: "I think if you go on people's videos and you seek out negativity, you are a very, very sad person."
