Matt Bomer is set to join the cast of Peacock's spy thriller series for its second season.

The 48-year-old Golden Globe-winning actor has landed a recurring role in the upcoming second season of The Day of the Jackal, Deadline reported on Monday, May 11. Bomer will star alongside Eddie Redmayne, though specifics about his character remain under wraps. There has been speculation that he may be taking on a villainous part.

Bomer, known for his work on White Collar, joins other new cast members Weruche Opia and Pablo Schreiber for the upcoming season.

The first season follows the Jackal, a highly skilled and elusive assassin portrayed by Redmayne, who takes on lucrative contracts around the globe. After completing a particularly high-profile job, the Jackal encounters a formidable adversary in a determined British intelligence operative played by Lashana Lynch. What unfolds is an intense game of cat-and-mouse that takes the pair across Europe and leaves destruction in its path.

Cameras are already rolling on season 2, with production underway in Budapest.

Redmayne previously discussed his use of prosthetics throughout the series.
