Matthew Rhys Brings Longtime Partner Keri Russell to 'Widow's Bay' NYC Premiere
Matthew Rhys marked the arrival of his latest project with a red-carpet appearance in New York. The 51-year-old, Emmy-winning performer walked the premiere of his Apple TV series Widow's Bay on Wednesday, April 22, at Regal Union Square in Manhattan, with longtime partner Keri Russell in attendance.
The event drew a lineup of talent connected to the production. Cast members present included Kate O'Flynn, Stephen Root, Kingston Rumi Southwick, Kevin Carroll, and Dale Dickey. Series creator Katie Dippold was also on hand, as was director and executive producer Hiro Murai.
The show centers on a remote New England island community struggling with its prospects. Rhys plays Mayor Tom Loftis, a leader fighting to transform his economically challenged hometown into a tourist draw. The town sits 40 miles offshore, cut off by limited cell service and no internet. Locals view the island with suspicion, convinced it carries a curse, and regard their mayor with skepticism—believing him weak and indecisive. Despite their doubts, Loftis pursues his vision of revitalization for the sake of his teenage son.
His efforts unexpectedly bear fruit, and visitors begin arriving. But the island's dark reputation proves warranted. Long-dormant legends emerge from the shadows, and the community faces genuine danger. The series blends horror elements with comedic storytelling rooted in character dynamics.
The premiere episode launches on Apple TV on April 29.
