The Fast and the Furious franchise marked a major milestone at this year's Cannes Film Festival with an exclusive midnight screening celebrating 25 years since the original film's release.

On Wednesday night (May 13), Vin Diesel took to the red carpet alongside co-stars Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster. Among the notable attendees was Meadow Walker, daughter of late actor Paul Walker, who was joined by Tyrese Gibson, producer Neal H. Moritz, and Donna Langley, chairwoman of Universal Pictures.

Diesel made a bold statement with his fashion choice, sporting a custom-embroidered jacket featuring the Fast Forever logo—a nod to the franchise's next installment. The upcoming film, positioned as the final chapter in the saga, is scheduled to arrive in theaters on March 17, 2028.

During remarks to the crowd, Diesel spoke movingly about Meadow's presence at the event. "This is a film where brotherhood is introduced by myself and my brother Pablo," he said. "And the person that was not going to let me come alone here, they represent that brotherhood, was Meadow Walker. I'm going to go and shed a tear real quick, but I just want you all to know, the only reason why we're making a finale of Fast for 2028 is because of each and every one of you, that has given us your hearts and your loyalty. Each and every one of you that has felt like you are part of our family, you make us have to continue, you make us want to make you all proud. What you're going to watch tonight is the beginning of one word. And that word is love. I love you all."

At 27 years old, Meadow's involvement in the celebration underscored the personal significance of the milestone for the franchise.

The Cannes appearance came just one day after a major announcement regarding the franchise's future. Diesel had been in New York City for the NBCUniversal Upfront event, where he revealed that four Fast & Furious television series are in development. The expansion will include a show set to launch on Peacock, signaling the franchise's evolution beyond theatrical releases.
